When it comes to work-life balance, the core of Start 2 Continue’s philosophy can be summed up in a single sentence:
Life is too short to waste it doing stuff you hate.
The irony is that there are many things that you might not enjoy doing but are necessary to get to where you want to be. My goal then is to help you identify what’s truly wasteful and unnecessary while helping you find enjoyment and fulfillment through the boring (but necessary) parts.
After working together, you might actually find the process wasn’t as boring or overwhelming as you initially thought. There have been many cases where my clients actually find the process fun, even after their most stressful days.
And yes, even in the exhausting socioeconomic times we live in where you’re constantly trying to make ends meet, you can have fun working towards your goals in meaningful, impactful ways that make a difference for yourself, your future, your family and community, and your sense of fulfillment.
I also practice what I preach. If you’re curious to learn more about how all this works, you can follow along on my progress in to improve my own life and business.
Modern problems require modern solutions — or, at the very least, solutions that are a bit unorthodox compared to what most people expect. This applies to individuals as well as businesses and organizations.
Here’s how it works:
Instead of a flat monthly fee that doesn’t flex with your budget, Start 2 Continue works on a credit-based system. You get a flexible amount of support each month as those credits can be used on meetings, writing and research, strategy work, whatever moves you closer to your goals.
Why credits? Because of the many kinds of services I offer, credits keep things simple. For instance, instead of having to guess how much copywriting costs a set of new content pages all with different lengths, credits allow these projects to be banded together, saving you time and money as well as saving me time and energy.
As you (or your business) grow, your engagement can grow too. As things get tight, the model tightens up too. No 12-month contracts, no one-size-fits-all package.
When you and I start working together, we’ll meet to identify your starting position, what resources and skills you have at your disposal, and where you’d like to go. This includes questions like:
Once you and I find the answers to those questions, we build a plan together and focus on what actions would make the biggest difference within your budget.
Therein lies the magic: by focusing on what matters and getting rid of what doesn’t, you’ll not only start tackling your goals, but build momentum so the process becomes faster, easier, and even enjoyable on the toughest days.
But a quick disclaimer: I’m not here to sell bandaids nor will I recommend things that won’t work. Our work together is about helping you do better, not just feel better; doing better is the goal, feeling better is the bonus that naturally comes with that.
My job is to help you get there, not just be a yes man for a system and habits that aren’t serving you (and if they are, why are you here?). There are plenty of other coaches that give witty one-liners on social media and getting dopamine from scrolling through their content might be enough. There are plenty of other consultants who will furnish you with reports you are impressed by but you might not understand the data and the results match what you’re looking for.
But that isn’t me nor is that my goal. I want you to succeed, not just fantasize about success and I want you to understand the how and why.
Most coaches and consultants see that as working themselves out of a job. For me, I see that as the whole point.
And you will be successful. It just takes time, consistency, mutual honesty (both between us as well as between you and yourself), and accepting the fact that in order to bring about change, we must be willing to change.
If you need some ideas of what the credit model looks like, here are some examples of how clients have used it.
After getting laid off and struggling to find work after putting out hundreds (if not thousands) of resumes and job applications, you’re not sure what to do differently. Do you continue looking for a new job or is this a sign to start your own freelancing career or business?
The stress and exhaustion are sapping the excitement from the opportunity… so what do you do?
Relevant service examples:
You’ve been freelancing for a few years now and, while you enjoy your work, you’ve been caught in a feast-and-famine slump this whole time. And with clients tightening their budgets, holding onto accounts and finding new ones is job within itself, let alone doing the work.
So how do you get out of this budgetary push and pull… and find enjoyment in your work again despite how tired you feel?
Relevant service examples:
No matter how big your business is or how long you’ve been at it, being a business owner is a balancing act of roles. The smaller your operation, the bigger that list and it’s hard to simplify when everything feels so complex.
The irony is that you’ve grown as much as you can with the current structure, but how do you get past this obstacle without burning yourself or your employees out?
